The Peru-Japan Center for Earthquake Engineering Research and Disaster Mitigation was stablished by the Faculty of Civil Engineering (FIC) of the National University (UNI) of Engineering and the cooperation of the government of Japan through its International Cooperation Agency (JICA). |

The CISMID facilities were constructed on a 1000m2 site in the northern part of the UNI campus. The main objective of the center is to study, develop and improve sistematically technologies and techniques to drastically reduce the number of casualties and material losses in natural disaster such as earthquakes, floods, debris flows, avalanches, huaycos, soil failures and others. These studies are carried out in a multidisciplinary way and in coordination with other interested insitutions related to natural disasters.
The researches developed in our laboratories are presented in international conferences all over the world such as Spain, Mexico, Corea, USA, New Zealand and Canada.
Our staff consists of professors and researchers from the UNI and with postgraduate studies in USA and Japan. Also CISMID counts with a Structural and Geotechnical laboratories, as well as a modern computer center.
